WELCOME TO THE
GEVIRTZ RESEARCH CENTER

Partnerships Creating Excellence in Public Education

The Gevirtz Research Center (GRC) was established in 1996 when the late Ambassador Don Gevirtz and Marilyn Gevirtz made a substantial contribution to the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) Gevirtz Graduate School of Education. Recognizing that access to educational opportunities for all children is critical to the fulfillment of their hopes and dreams, Don and Marilyn helped to develop strong partnerships between UCSB, the Santa Barbara School Districts, other birth through Grade 12 partners, and the private sector. Today the GRC is committed to developing well-researched programs that lead to high levels of academic achievement for all students and providing valuable information to educators, researchers, and policy makers.

Vision
The vision of the Gevirtz Research Center is to create a system of research which will dramatically improve public education in the United States. The Center's strategy is to work collaboratively with the school districts and other community partners to design, implement, research, and disseminate innovative educational programs to enhance student performance in school.

All the elements of creating an excellent public school system are based on research and analysis. Our plan is to explore every significant element that produces excellence in public schools, including an analysis of the process that produces a committed citizenry to public school excellence.
